PCS leader urges workers to join Sunday's NSSN lobby of the TUC

PCS general secretary Mark Serwotka will be among the speakers at a rally organised by the National Shop Stewards Network on Sunday 11th September, calling on the Trades Union Congress (TUC) to lead the resistance to coalition government cuts by organising coordinated public sector action this autumn.

Mark Serwotka said:

"In June the joint strike action by PCS, the National Union of Teachers, the University and College Union, the Association of Teachers and Lecturers, and some local branches of Unison and Unite, put the fight against the cuts at the centre of the nation's consciousness.

"A bigger walkout - co-ordinated by the TUC and involving even more unions - would boost the confidence of everybody fighting cuts in workplaces and communities across the UK.

"I urge PCS members and other trades unionists to join Sunday's lobby of the TUC."

The rally starts on Sunday 11 September at 1.30pm, in Friends Meeting House, Euston Road, London, NW1 2BJ.

It is followed by a march to TUC headquarters, Congress House, Great Russell Street, WC1B 3LS, where a petition will be handed in.
