To step up the campaign against academies in Lewisham, students held a lunchtime protest at Prendagast school, Hilly Fields.

The protest was 300 strong and held the day before teachers will close the school with strike action. Students shouted support for the strike over a megaphone and when executive head Dave Sheppard came out, students chanted: "we are not the shepard's sheep".

Students plan to hold regular protests until they save the school from becoming an academy. The senior management have not been able to deter students from protesting, even with a letter home to all parents raising "safety concerns" over the planned action.
